Organized for The Fralin Museum of Art by Rebecca Schoenthal, Curator of Exhibitions Canadian artist Dorothea Rockburne’s studies with mathematician Max Dehn at the legendary Black Mountain College in the early 1950s firmly grounded her artistic practices in astronomy, mathematics and topology. He was part of the first Tobin administration as Corporation Counsel and as one of the Mayors advisors. This collection contains nineteen letters written to George Barrell Emerson in 1847 in response to a circular letter sent to schools in Boston, inquiring about the state of their libraries.
